What is endoscopy?
Endoscopy is a diagnostic and therapeutic medical procedure that uses a special instrument – an endoscope. The endoscope is a thin, flexible or rigid tube with a camera and a light source, used to examine body cavities.
It allows the doctor to directly inspect the inside of the nose, sinuses, throat, or other parts of the body without the need for traditional surgical incisions.
When do we use endoscopy?
In ENT medicine, endoscopy is used for precise diagnosis of the causes of breathing difficulties, chronic inflammations, growths, bleeding, and anatomical abnormalities, as well as for performing minimally invasive surgical procedures.
The advantage of endoscopy is that the examination is quick, safe, and painless for the patient, while providing a detailed view of the condition of the mucosa and structures of the nose and sinuses.
When is nasal and sinus endoscopy recommended?
