What does an ENT examination include?
A specialist ENT examination includes a detailed medical evaluation of the ears, throat, and nose using clinical assessment and modern diagnostic tools. The exam is performed by a certified ENT specialist, and the goal is to detect inflammation, deformities, or other conditions that impair breathing, hearing, swallowing, or speech.
At IMED Clinic and Day Hospital, we use advanced video fiberendoscopy for non-invasive diagnostics of ear, nose, and sinus inflammatory diseases, allergic conditions, nasal polyps, adenoid hypertrophy, and vocal cord or laryngeal disorders. The examination is carried out using an endoscopic instrument with a small camera that enables clear real-time visualization of the condition.
Following the examination, a diagnosis is made and an individual therapy plan is developed. If necessary, the patient may be referred to other specialists for additional tests to ensure comprehensive care and the best possible therapy.
The first step is a conversation with the patient to gather information about symptoms, their frequency, and duration. The doctor also inquires about past illnesses, allergies, lifestyle habits, and family history, as all of this can be relevant to the current complaints.
Meet Your Doctor
Prim. Katarina Đurić Vuković, MD, is a specialist in otorhinolaryngology with a subspecialty in plastic and reconstructive surgery of the head and neck. She is specialized in nasal and sinus diseases and has extensive clinical experience in ENT diagnostics as well as outpatient and surgical treatment.
When is the Right Time for an ENT Exam?
Since diseases of the ear, throat, and nose often do not cause "severe" symptoms, patients tend to ignore them and delay visiting the doctor. In the long term, this can lead to more serious complications such as hearing loss, chronic inflammation, abscesses, etc.
We recommend seeing a doctor if you experience:
-
Frequent sinus, throat, or ear infections
-
Persistent nasal congestion or difficulty breathing
-
Hearing loss
-
Ear pain or ringing in the ears
-
Hoarseness or pain when swallowing
-
Recurrent sinus-related headaches
Early diagnosis can significantly impact the outcome of treatment.
Whether you need a specialist examination or a second opinion, detecting a disease in its early stages prevents complications and enables faster recovery.
