Fixed Dental Prosthetics
Fixed dental prosthetics include permanent restorations such as crowns, bridges, and veneers, designed to restore both the function and aesthetics of the teeth. These restorations are cemented onto natural teeth or implants and cannot be removed, offering a long-lasting and stable result.
Fixed prosthetics are used to replace missing, weakened, or damaged teeth and to reshape the smile for a natural appearance and full oral functionality.

Dental Crowns
Has your tooth cracked or become permanently damaged? Has it discolored after root canal treatment? Are you missing one or more teeth? Dental crowns are a solution for all of these cases.
Dental crowns provide a permanent solution for restoring damaged, weakened, or aesthetically compromised teeth. Their primary function is to protect and strengthen the tooth while enhancing the appearance of your smile.
Whether due to fracture, extensive decay, or post-treatment discoloration, a crown acts as a shield that prolongs the lifespan of the tooth.
What Can Be Fixed with Dental Crowns?
-
Damaged or broken teeth – if a tooth is cracked or damaged beyond what a filling can repair, a crown surrounds and strengthens it
-
Worn-down teeth – common in patients with bruxism (teeth grinding); crowns restore original shape and function
-
Teeth weakened by decay – large cavities can compromise strength; a crown provides protection and stability
-
Post-root canal treated teeth – these teeth are more brittle, and crowns help prevent fractures
-
Aesthetically irregular teeth – crowns can improve the appearance of discolored, misshapen, rotated, or uneven teeth
- Missing teeth – when placed on an implant, a crown fully restores the function and appearance of a missing tooth
Types of Dental Crowns at IMED Clinic
Zirconia-Ceramic Crowns
These crowns feature a zirconia core covered with ceramic. They are known for their strength and excellent aesthetics, as they closely mimic the natural translucency of teeth. Due to their durability and appearance, they are suitable for all areas of the mouth and are biocompatible, meaning they are well accepted by the body with no allergic reactions.
Metal-Ceramic Crowns
These crowns consist of a metal base made from a chromium-cobalt alloy, coated with ceramic. The base is biocompatible and hypoallergenic. They are valued for their strength, longevity, and reliability. However, in cases of gum recession, a dark line may become visible, making them less ideal for the smile zone.
Full Zirconia Crowns
Full zirconia crowns offer high translucency and excellent aesthetics while also being incredibly durable, strong, and flexible. Zirconia is currently the most resistant material in dentistry and is hypoallergenic due to its biocompatibility.
Dental Bridges
Dental crowns can also be used to replace missing teeth through a dental bridge. For patients who are not suitable candidates for implant therapy, bridges provide an effective alternative by spanning edentulous gaps with connected crowns.
A dental bridge is a fixed prosthetic restoration composed of two or more crowns and is used to replace lost teeth or improve the function and aesthetics of existing ones. It is cemented onto natural prepared teeth or implants when placed in implant-supported cases.
Dental Veneers
Unlike crowns, which require substantial reshaping of the tooth, dental veneers involve minimal intervention. Only the front surface of the tooth is lightly prepared, preserving most of the enamel.
This minimally invasive method involves shorter treatment time and faster recovery. Veneers are ideal for correcting minor aesthetic flaws such as tooth shape, size, or discoloration. Focused purely on aesthetics, veneers are the finishing touch to a healthy, restored smile—delivering the popular "Hollywood smile" effect.
