Tooth Extraction and Alveotomy
Tooth extraction is the most frequently performed oral surgery procedure. Teeth that are impacted or growing in an unfavorable direction, especially wisdom teeth, are removed through a minor surgical procedure called alveotomy.
The surgical extraction of wisdom teeth is entirely painless, although postoperative recovery is individual and may involve pain and discomfort. At IMED, wisdom teeth are extracted only when there is a clear medical indication.
Apicoectomy
The second most common procedure is apicoectomy, which involves removing the tip of the tooth root – most often due to chronic inflammation or fractures.
It is performed when chronic inflammatory processes around the root tip cannot be treated with standard endodontic therapy. The area of inflammation is accessed surgically, the root tip is removed, and the inflammation is cleaned out.
Ridge Modification
Ridge modification is a surgical procedure that corrects irregularities in the alveolar ridge, which often arise after tooth extraction. This procedure is typically needed for both aesthetic and functional reasons.
At IMED, the procedure is performed using a laser, which enables precise incisions and faster tissue coagulation and healing.
Sinus Lift and Bone Grafting
When placing dental implants, certain pre-implant regenerative procedures are sometimes required. The most common among these are sinus lifts and ridge augmentation.
