A special X-ray device for taking panoramic images of the jaw – the orthopantomograph, during the scan, the device rotates around the patient’s head for about 15 seconds. The entire procedure is completely painless, the radiation dose is minimal, and patients are protected during the scan with special protective equipment that provides maximum safety.
Orthopantomogram & CBCT Imaging
Precise digital diagnostics
At IMED Polyclinic and Day Hospital, every initial consultation includes digital diagnostics through both 2D and 3D jaw imaging — known as Orthopantomogram and CBCT.

Why is jaw imaging important?
-
Treatment planning – Provides insight into the true condition of the oral cavity and helps diagnose inflammatory processes below the tooth surface or within the bone.
-
Accurate diagnosis – Enables early detection of issues such as trauma, cavities, cysts, periodontal and periapical infections, or impacted teeth invisible to the naked eye.
-
Root and bone health assessment – Essential for periodontal treatment or endodontic procedures.
- Monitoring progress and results – Tracks development of primary and permanent teeth and follows up after implant, prosthetic, or orthodontic procedures.
Orthopantomogram
The orthopantomogram is the first and most essential diagnostic tool for evaluating a patient’s dental condition. It is a 2D X-ray of both jaws and surrounding structures such as the maxillary sinuses and jaw joints.
CBCT
CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) is the most advanced and precise diagnostic imaging technique in modern dentistry. It provides 3D imaging of the teeth, bones, nerves, and soft tissues.
CBCT scans are essential for creating accurate and individualized treatment plans and are used in cases where traditional X-rays are not sufficient.
These scans are crucial in complex cases such as dental reconstructions, implant planning, surgical procedures (e.g., cyst removals, alveotomies, and extractions), as they reveal additional information — bone height, width, and density.
Advantages of CBCT Imaging
- Minimal Radiation Exposure
Patient safety is always our top priority. Thanks to modern digital technologies, radiation doses are minimized. At IMED, every patient is protected with appropriate equipment during imaging.
- Precision & Accuracy
CBCT scans deliver extremely detailed and precise images. Our expert radiologists at IMED ensure each scan is performed properly and avoids the need for repetition.
- Speed & Convenience
The procedure is quick, saving patients time. All imaging equipment is available on-site, so there’s no need to visit an external radiology center. The process is simple, and digital images can be saved and easily shared.
